Cincinnati's Streetcar escalator
A few days ago, the Shorpy Historic Photo Archive posted this photograph of a street car lift or incline in Cincinnati (follow the link for a huge version of that image). Sometimes, I marvel at how futuristic cities could be in the old days. On the other hand, Cincinnati inhabitants might have thought it was a hassle, waiting for the incline to hoist their car up or down the hill.
